About the Author

Hi! I’m Mitch Hankins, independent author, researcher, and believer of doing things differently to create a better world.

After graduating with honors from the University of Kansas’ School of Journalism and Mass Communications in 2011, I began my career in advertising and digital marketing.

While I still maintain my career as a digital marketing and SEO professional, I have also expanded my skillset over the years to focus on things like writing, technology and data analytics (I believe innovation in technology and data can make the world a much better place when applied responsibly). I’ve also found ways to put into practice my passion for social justice, culture, environmentalism, and politics.

Thus, in addition to my career in marketing and tech, I am also an independent writer and researcher who covers ideas spanning from technology to transgender rights.

I am a self-starter and naturally curious person who enjoys learning and experimenting with new things, sharing and teaching new ideas to others, and advancing my knowledge on topics that I am interested (such as those listed below). Being transgender and neurodivergent are also two aspects that have profoundly shaped the way that I view and participate in the world.

My goal with this particular blog is that is may serve as a platform for sharing socially focused ideas and facilitating discussion around creating a more advanced, just and equitable society.

On a more personal note, some other things that I enjoy are:

  • Books — I am active on my goodreads and enjoy a book’s ability to help us explore different cultures, lands, historical moments and time periods, and stretch the imagination
  • Learning — of particular interest to me are topics around technology and cloud-computing, data, sociology, psychology, politics, cosmology, quantum physics, spirituality, oceanic exploration and environmental issues
  • Tea — I’m a bit of a tea connoisseur
  • Interacting with nature — particularly water, forest, and animals
  • Art, music, film and comedy
  • Daily meditation
  • Building community
